Major Refurbishment planned for Monks Cross Shopping Park, York

Primark opened a 57,700 sq. ft. store at Monks Cross Shopping Centre in York in May 2016.

We worked closely with Primark and the scheme owners (Monks Cross Shopping Park Trust) on the construction project. Over a three-year period, we helped to facilitate the planning approval process and subsequently project managed the shell build to help secure Primark’s substantial commitment to the Park.

The construction project combined three existing units previously occupied by Marks & Spencer, Sports Direct and Laura Ashley together with the extension of the building to the rear to create one of Primark’s new format flagship offerings. The building features a high performance, super flat composite mezzanine floor as well as a decorative, louvered façade to give the store a contemporary frontage.

Monks Cross Shopping Park – one of the UK’s prime regional shopping destinations- is now planning a major refurbishment which may include overcladding work to the terrace façades, construction of new refreshment pods and a new build bulky goods unit. We have been retained as project managers for these initiatives and hope to submit the masterplan for planning purposes shortly.
